For the past five years I have Produced and Directed over 250 Personal Injury Commercials for some of the top attorneys championing “”the cause for Justice.” I’ve also made commercials for Divorce Attorneys and Doctors working with my former agency Cepac. Many of the commercials were repurposed to run on the firm’s website as well as for social networking. The commercials have helped thousands of individuals find the legal advise they sorely needed to get them through the challenging times they were facing. John Heller has had the privilege of working with some of the most influential lawyers protecting the rights of Americans today. John’s experience producing and shooting “real people” documentary style lawyer advertising commercials and documentaries have been recognized with two Clio Awards an Emmy and an Academy Award Nomination.
Cooney Conway, a Chicago Law Firm is currently running a “true stories, real people” spot I produced for them while at my former agency Cepac. Unpredictable and changing situations during production are always a challenge, especially when we want to achieve good production values. In fact: I really enjoy planning shoots and projects well. But, my news and documentary background starting at CNN and moving on to PBS, Sundance, A&E as well as a variety of independent projects has helped me maintain my ability to think on my feet. I believe most good directors and producers plan a lot and then when they get to set keep a very open mind to the new opportunities that present themselves.
Most of my work is the product of teamwork, dedication, organization and my experience wearing many hats. I am familiar with working on big crews and one-man bands. I am comfortable being part of the initial creative meetings, breaking down scripts or ideas, budgets & schedules, confirming crews & equipment, organizing and researching footage and rights. I have been given the opportunity to learn many areas of our craft from pre to post.
